Uji Matcha Latte (?) by Mint bubblegum on Flickr.
doesnt this just look derriciousss? IT WAS. it’s like my three favorite desserts in one bowl.
What they look like inside the box. You eat them with the stick, so they don’t melt in your hands. Yum-yum!
Iced Matcha Latte with whipped cream (from “Relax” in Duesseldorf/Germany)
Kyoto。 京都に行きました。
9/4/09 10:28PMAfter Kiyomizu-ji we walked around and looked at all the おみやげ/souvenier shops. They had this interesting mochi cake thing (Manju? I forget the name). But it was like blocks of Mochi with red bean inside. One guy had a sampler of it and so we tried it, it was quite good! After walking a bit, we sort of got lost and decided to backtrack and find a place to eat some sweets. Even though the place was expensive, we all ended up ordering Ice Cream. All the Japanese girls in our group ordered the same ice cream! I can’t remember the name of it but it looked so good! They let us try some, and it really was good. There was a little dip in the top like a volcano and you had to pour sauce on it to break the shell to get to the ice cream. They were all shocked by how pretty it was and took pictures, just like we have been taking pictures of all our food!
On the other hand, 3 of us ordered green tea ice cream, which was also very very good. And the last person ordered Kotaki Ice cream. All the ice cream came with warm mochi on a seperate plate. We all really enjoyed our ice cream and the lady who owned the store was very friendly and had a thick Kyoto accent. She was explaining to us about the ice cream, and how the green tea ice cream in Kyoto is very special, but it was a litle hard to understand her. The Japanese girls helped us understand what she was saying. But it was such a cute place!
